Jakkalsvlei bottled their first wine in 2008, and between 2009 and 2017 our agency handled all of the farm’s branding and advertising needs.
We were tasked with managing all the brand and packaging development of the entire Jakkalsvlei range including the exclusive Lord Jackal and Jackal & Wolf Brewing Company ranges. Grindstone Advertising handled all their marketing strategies, budgets, and was instrumental in establishing Jakkalsvlei as a must-visit destination (being almost an hour’s drive from the main road, this was no easy task).
In 2013 renovations began on their modest one-room, 20-seater tasting venue and in December 2014 the brand launched a new, state-of-the-art tasting hall.December 2015 saw a record number of visitors to the farm with over 18 000 guests visiting over a three-week period.
The number of visitors grew exponentially and in 2016 renovations began again to enlarge the original kitchen, build a secondary kitchen, extend the deck, and improve the overall facilities.
Apart from marketing and brand development, Grindstone Advertising also handled all event organisation, social media management, third-party placements, as well as management of all their online portals like listings on wosa.co.za, Cybercellar, etc.Working with a very limited budget we managed to get regular features in publications such as Visi, Home and Getaway and were instrumental in establishing Jakkalsvlei as a must-visit destination in the Garden Route.
