08 Aug How the Facebook algorithm change affects your business page
Grindstone Agency would like to bring you up to date on the current Facebook algorithm changes that might affect how your Facebook business page functions.
On 11 January 2018, Mark Zuckerberg announced that Facebook would be actively reducing the number of posts everyone sees from businesses, brands and media. Instead, the news feed would now prioritise content from friends and family in an effort to “encourage meaningful interactions between people”.
So, currently, brands worldwide are all being hit by a drop in organic reach of around 34%. Facebook now uses a ‘boost post’ system or ‘paid ad’ system for business pages, which means that if you want to reach a larger audience, you have to pay.
While this is challenging for many small businesses, it doesn’t necessarily mean that your business posts won’t be seen. Along with the ‘boost post’ option, there are many alternate ways to work around the problem. One of which is to ask your staff, friends and family to get involved. The more people like and share your page, the higher your Facebook rating and reach will be.
We have done our homework, and have taken measures to soften the blow, so please rest assured that at Grindstone we do our utmost to combat the change from our side.
